EA has confirmed that a new Need for Speed title will release in 2013, following the success of Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

“Another Q3 success story was Need for Speed Most Wanted,” the company’s COO Peter Moore said in the publisher’s recent earnings call. “Sell-through was up over 30% year-over-year, and outperformed the industry’s other AAA racing titles.”

“In this market, consumers are concentrating their choices,” he added. “They don’t buy two driving titles but they will buy the best one. Need for Speed is back in position as an annualized blockbuster.”

This doesn’t really come as a surprise considering how popular Most Wanted was. Things are certainly looking good for the series now that Criterion is in charge.
