Anthem‘s delay into early 2019 is bad news for BioWare fans, but it did reveal that the next Battlefield game will release in October 2018.
EA previously revealed that the next Battlefield title would launch in fall 2018 during a fiscal call, but now we know the specific launch month, which is the same month that Battlefield 1 launched in 2016.
Rumors have been circulating that the next Battlefield will either be a Cold War-era Battlefield: Bad Company 3 or a return to the series’ World War II roots, with DICE Sweden working on the WWII Battlefield and DICE LA working on Bad Company 3. The original Bad Company 3 rumors originated with the same leaker who accurately predicted almost all of Battlefield 1‘s launch content, but those rumors were shot down by a Battlefield insider with more established connections to EA and DICE.
In the meantime, Battlefield 1 just launched the second half of its Turning Tides expansion, introducing a highly anticipated weapon balance patch and expanding naval combat with one of the new maps, Heligoland Bight. Plus, Battlefield 1 players still have the game’s final expansion, Apocalypse, to look forward to when it finally launches in February.
Battlefield 1 is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
