EA has stated that yesterday’s tweet teasing a new NBA Jam title was the result of  “unauthorized” use of the @nbajam account.

Yesterday, a tweet appeared on the account that read: “Retweet if you’re ready for a new NBA JAM!” This of course led to the obvious speculation that a new title was on the way, but it turns out that there’s not.

“Yesterday, there was unauthorized use of the @nbajam Twitter handle,” an EA representative told Joystiq. “We do not have any announcements to make about NBA Jam at this time.”

NBA Jam released for consoles back in 2010 and was followed by the enhanced NBA Jam: On Fire Edition in 2011.
