EA Participating In SF And Seattle Pride Parades, Declare LGBT Pride Month
Posted on June 1, 2012 AT 02:58pm
EA and PopCap will be participating in the festivities for San Francisco and Seattle’s Pride Parades, celebrating gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender diversity. As the developer/publisher notes, LGBT diversity is very much a part of their company, represented by both their employees and the characters in the games they produce.
Not only will EA and PopCap be actively engaging in both parades, but the company has officially stated that they’re adopting June as “LGBT Pride Month” to celebrate the movement beyond the annual Pride Parade events.
For fans in San Francisco who want to be a part of EA’s role in this year’s Pride Parade, you can register on Eventbrite via the password “pride2012″ with this event link.
Even though (or possibly because) they’re one of the world’s largest video game companies, EA has frequently fought public backlash for many perceived controversies regarding gay characters and homosexual relationships in titles like Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Despite facing public outcry from various religious activist groups and political campaign organizations, EA has continued to firmly and diligently assert their full support of gay youth and the LGBT community.
