EA President Mentions Battlefield 4
Posted on November 9, 2011 AT 02:40pm
THE BUZZ: Yesterday it was Activision confirming that, indeed, a new Call of Duty game will be coming next year; today, it’s EA president Frank Gibeau talking Battlefield 4.
Twitter user Brandon Winfrey posted that, during a keynote at the University of Southern California, Gibeau stated that, “There is going to be a Battlefield 4.”
When asked about the statement, a rep for EA told IGN the following:
“Frank was speaking broadly about the Battlefield brand – a brand that EA is deeply passionate about and a fan community that EA is committed to.”
EGM’s TAKE: Much like the mention of a new Call of Duty coming next year was not at all surprising, the fact that a Battlefield 4 will be coming at some point is equally unsurprising. While the EA rep might not be in a position to come right out and say that fact, there’s no doubt in my mind that Gubeau’s comment was genuine.
The Battlefield franchise has been very successful for EA, and with the popularity that Battlefield 3 has already achieved, the publisher would be crazy not tap DICE for a new installment.
