EA Rep Says Black Ops 2 Looks Tired

By
Posted on May 3, 2012 AT 06:55am

Electronic Arts global product manager Kevin O’Leary discovered the power of the all-seeing Internet eye after a seemingly innocent comment he made on Twitter.

He made the simple mistake of voicing a negative opinion regarding Activision’s recently announced Black Ops 2.

“Poor [Black Ops II], you look tired, you should take a year off and rest,” said O’Leary, taking a shot at the franchise’s yearly release cycle. Now if any non-game related person makes this comment then the Internet doesn’t even acknowledge its existence, however if a member of the franchise’s rival company makes it all hell breaks lose.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion regarding the game, even members of EA. We’re sure at the time he was simply sharing his thoughts with followers, however once the Internet got a hold it became a whole other ball game. Don’t expect EA to make him offer any sort of apology, especially after the war of words that the two companies engaged in back in the Modern Warfare 3/Battlefield 3 battles.

The yearly release schedule is going to catch up with them in the end, you can already sense the resentment in the air. Sure, Black Ops 2 will probably sell millions of copies and make Activision a lot of money, but the cracks are starting to show.

You can check out our preview of Black Ops 2 here.

Is a yearly release schedule too much? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
