EA snubs Sony’s, Nintendo’s efforts into 3D gaming

Posted on July 29, 2011 AT 01:25pm

Sony and Nintendo have made strong pushed for the idea of video games using 3D technology, but EA isn’t exactly impressed.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, EA’s CEO John Riccitiello said that his company has seen high returns in the areas of social and online gaming, but very low results in terms of 3D gaming.

Because of this, while speaking at a recent stockholders meeting, Riccitiello stated that EA will instead be “allocating our resources toward new innovations” other than 3D.

Ricciteillo went on to note that not enough people have purchased 3D HDTVs yet, and that his company should be reacting to what people want, not trying to push new technologies. He also went on to mention Nintendo, and how their 3DS has not been performing as well as his company hoped.
