EA Standing Trial Against Original Madden Dev for Breach of Contract

EA will be facing Robin Antonick, one of the designers on the original John Madden Football for Commodore 64, MS-DOS, and Apple II, in court June.

According to Antonick, who first took Electronic Arts to task in 2011, a contract he signed with the company in 1986 entitles him to royalties for code he created for the original game.

California federal judge Charles Breyer handed down the decision, who has expressed “serious concerns about the fraud claim” and will be reviewing the details of the lawsuit during the May 20th pre-trial.

The full trial itself will be held June 17.
