EA Trademarks ‘SimOcean’

THE BUZZ: EA may be set to add another branch to the Sim family tree, if a new trademark filed by the company is anything to go by.

The publisher filed a trademark for SimOcean, which has sparked rumors of Maxis taking the franchise to new aquatic depths.

EGM’s TAKE: The Sim series has stretched far and wide over the course of the franchise, it goes so much further than just The Sims and SimCity. It’s not too far-fetched for Maxis to be working on an underwater sim, but how would they implement it? Would it be SimCity underwater, or an aquamarine life sim? There are a few routes that the team could head down. However, just because there’s a trademark it doesn’t mean a game will ever get made.

Would you like to see an underwater sim? Let us know in the comments below.
