Dead Rising

Despite years upon years of anticipation for The Last Guardian, Team Ico’s absolutely gorgeous puzzle platformer has finished behind Dead Rising 4 in the first batch of sales figures we’ve gotten.

According to data from GfK Chart-Track, the zombie beat-em-up title placed fifth in U.K. sales for the week—two places higher than the beautiful Team Ico offering. Perhaps it’s just the fact that Dead Rising 4 is so much more accessible. Hit a button, kill a zombie (or maybe 100). That’s certainly why I spent more time with the game in recent weeks. As for The Last Guardian, I’ll delve into it after the hustle and bustle of the holidays when I can really focus on it.

Another thing to consider is that both of these games are system exclusives. Dead Rising 4 can only be played on Xbox One and PC, The Last Guardian only on PlayStation 4. Maybe PC gamers were just enough to give the bump that Dead Rising 4 needed to win the battle of the new releases. It’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out once more details are available.
