D3 Publisher announced during Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia’s pre-TGS event earlier today that Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow Of New Despair is coming to PlayStation 4 next year.

The game appears to be a follow-up to Earth Defense Force 2025. The announcement trailer above shows an illustrated telling of the last-gen title’s story spliced with gameplay clips, before revealing a giant shadowy enemy, which is more than likely “The Shadow of New Despair.”

No other details about the title were offered, and no western release was mentioned.
