The release of the English version of popular eastern MMO ArcheAge may seem like a lifetime away, but it appears that Trion Worlds is finally starting to pick up the pace as the game is now in friends and family beta testing.

Trion Worlds CEO Scott Hartsman revealed to mmorpg.com that he had spent most of his free holiday time playing ArcheAge. According to Hartsman, around 80 percent of the game’s UI has now been translated into English and the team has completed its first pass of the quest text.

Of course this isn’t any indication that an actual beta will start soon, but it’s the biggest show of progress that has been offered in quite a while. A full closed beta for ArcheAge is scheduled to begin later this year.
