Entire Visceral Montreal Team Laid Off

An employee at Visceral Montreal, developer of Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel has confirmed that the entire team has been laid off by EA.

Marc D’Amico, lead VFX artist on Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, confirmed the news to Game Informer on Twitter:

This confirmation follows news earlier today from EA stating that the developer has suffered layoffs following the completion of Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, but the publisher didn’t mention the extent of the layoffs. EA issued the following statement:

Today EA internally announced some adjustments to select development teams to align staff and skills against priority growth areas, including new technologies and mobile.  Many employees are being retrained for new positions; however a small number will be released.  These are great, talented people and we wish them well.  EA is growing globally, and we expect our headcount to increase this year.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is set to release March 26 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It’s never good to hear about layoffs in the industry and we wish the entire team the best of luck in the future.
