Epic to reveal the future of Unreal Tournament next week on Twitch stream

Posted on May 2, 2014 AT 04:05pm

Epic Games will reveal something related to the future of Unreal Tournament on May 8 at 2 p.m. ET on Twitch, co-founder Mark Rein and other devs teased on Twitter today.

“You want to know about the future of #UnrealTournament?” Rein tweeted. “Tune in to Thursday at 2pm ET. #unrealdev #FirstBlood.”

Similarly, VP of product development Paul Meegan tweeted about “the future of Unreal Tournament,” followed shortly thereafter by Epic’s marketing manager Dana Cowley, who included a YouTube video embed of the “First Blood” sound effect.

The Unreal Tournament series hasn’t seen a new installment since 2007’s Unreal Tournament 3. Earlier this year, Epic Games co-founder Tim Sweeney said during GDC that the company wasn’t developing anything Unreal Tournament–related “at all at the moment.” Looks, potentially, like “at the moment” meant March because something sure as shite’s gone down in April. I hope.
