Deep Silver and Swedish studio Fatshark (War of the Roses, Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2) have partnered up to bring Escape Dead Island to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC later this year.
The game will bridge the gap between the events of the original Dead Island and 2015′s Dead Island 2, and will also explore the origins of the deadly virus that killed off most of humanity. Players will step into the shoes of Cliff Calo, the spoiled son of a powerful media mogul. Chris has stolen a yacht with his friends and is determined to film a documentary exposing the truth of the outbreak on the island of Banoi. To do this Chris and his friends will infiltrate the archipelago’s top-secret quarantined island of Narapela.
Unfortunately, it won’t just be the Zombies that players have to worry about this time. Chris must deal with his own sanity unraveling as “time distorts and folds in on itself; strange messages appear and impossible events shatter reality. Oceans turn to blood, containers plummet from the clear sky,” according to Senior Narrative Producer Alex Toplansky.
“The whole experience is vividly realized with comic-inspired visuals that complement Cliff’s surreal situation, delivering on Dead Island’s promise of a paradise gone to hell,” Toplansky explains. “In the case of Escape, it turns out to be a particularly private hell.”
Escape Dead Island will be available later this year on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC for $39.99. Pre-ordering the game via GameStop will grant access to the Dead Island 2 beta.
