The Electronic Software Ratings Board today announced they’ll be folding mobile developers into their ESRB Privacy Certified program.
“Privacy protection is an imperative for companies of all sizes, especially when kids are involved,” ESRB Privacy Certified vice president Dona Frasier said in a press statement. “But achieving compliance with requirements like COPPA can be complicated, particularly for rapidly evolving platforms like mobile.”
The ESRB Privacy Certified program provides game and app developers tools to ensure privacy and helps make sure their products meet the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. In short, the ESRB Privacy Certified program helps keep the information you send to websites, games, and apps seen only by the eyes you’ve agreed to let see that information.
“ESRB’s privacy program is an extension of our mission to help consumers make informed choices about the games they and their families enjoy,” ESRB president Patricia Vance added. “Our unique expertise in interactive digital media offers tremendous value to companies that are grappling with implementing responsible and transparent privacy properties.”
