Call of Duty

Another group of former Call of Duty devs have formed their own independent operation, called Reload Studios, and are working on an first-person shooter for VR and next-gen consoles, as discovered by IGN.

Other members of Reload’s currently 12-strong staff come from Heavy Iron and Electronic Arts.

According to a press release posted to the new studio’s official website, the studio is currently working on a first-person shooter title for VR, mobile devices, and next-gen consoles. They hope to release their untitled/unrevealed game sometime in 2015.

“When I first saw what the latest round of VR devices could do, I realized these were not just peripherals but brand new platforms that could transform the way we experience, interact with and create media,” co-founder James Chung said in the press release. “It was the perfect time to follow my passion and bring together the most talented people I know under one roof to form a development culture that promotes creativity and collaboration.”

James Chung, Taehoon Oh, Pete Blumel, Hougant Chen, Nik Ranieri, and the rest of Reload’s team join an ever-growing and ever-longer list of former triple-A developers rediscovering their passions for game-making through an indie studio operation.
