Former Gears of War producer and brief BioShock Infinite dev Rod Fergusson is forming a new 2K Games studio based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he announced on Twitter today.

“It’s official: I’m launching a new studio for 2K in the Bay Area with an exciting new project!” reads his tweet. “Details soon!”

Fergusson left Epic Games to join Irrational in August 2012. He served as executive vice president of development on BioShock Infinite for almost nine months. Upon completion of the game, Fergusson announced in April that he’d be leaving Irrational for “the next chapter” in his life and career.

Two other 2K-related outfits are located in the Bay Area: 2K Marin, the studio behind BioShock 2 and The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, and Visual Concepts, the studio that handles development of 2K Sports games.
