THE BUZZ: Codemasters has officially announced F1 2012, the latest annual entry into its Formula 1 simulation series.
The game is currently in development at Codemasters Birmingham and is set for a September 2012 release on Xbox 360, PlayStation and PC. One of the game’s new features will be the Young Driver Test mode which is designed, ”to deliver the most accessible and immersive Formula One game for fans of all abilities.”
“Players will be introduced to the world of Formula One through a range of tutorials explaining how to handle racing’s most exciting and responsive cars, and challenged to earn a drive from a team for the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship,” says the publisher.
The game will offer ”new features, wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements and extensive competitive and co-operative multiplayer component.” Along with fully licensed cars and the inclusion of the U.S Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
To celebrate the announcement Codemasters released the video below showing F1 2012 creative director Stephen Hood on his visit to the Young Driver’s Test earlier this year.
EGM’s TAKE: Being a massive Formula 1 fan I’m stoked for this game. There isn’t too much more that Codemasters could do in order to improve on last year, mainly just updated graphics and rule changes. Every mode that is needed is already included. What better way to kick off the F1 season, which started today in Australia, than with a video game announcement.
