A post from creator Doug TenNapel on the official Earthworm Jim Facebook page hints at the possibility of a fourth (third, by his book) Jim game in the future.

“Everyone loves Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, and I don’t generally acknowledge EWJ 3 as a real part of the Jim universe,” the post reads. “So if I was making another Jim game, would it be too confusing to call it Jim 3? Or would it have to be Jim 4? How about ‘Earthworm Jim 4 the Fans‘?”

Earthworm Jim debuted on the Sega Genesis in 1994. Gameloft developed an HD remake of the original game for XBLA and PSN in 2010.

Earthworm Jim 3D, developed by VIS Entertainment instead of Shiny, was released on N64 and Windows in 1999, largely to poor critical reception.

TenNapel and other members other members of the Earthworm Jim team at Pencil Test Studios recently Kickstarted Armikrog, a spiritual successor to The Neverhood.
