A major graphical update to Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the Xbox One X will be arriving “soon.”
The Xbox One X has been out for a few weeks now, and Microsoft has promised that several classic games will get upgrades to take full advantage of the console’s 4K graphics and additional processing power. Both Skyrim and Fallout 4 are on this list, but the promised update hasn’t yet been implemented. However, a recent change to the official Xbox website shows that this update could be right around the corner.
There’s a full list of Xbox One X game on the official Xbox site, and it tracks the progress of these upgrades for each game, noting whether the update is “available now” or “in development.” Recently, though, the listings for Skyrim and Fallout 4 were changed from “in development” to “coming soon.”
When these upgrades arrive, they will include 4K support and dynamic resolution for both games, as well as enhanced draw distance and enhanced god ray effects for Fallout 4.
Bethesda has been pushing Skyrim heavily recently, with the game recently re-releasing on the Nintendo Switch and gaining a virtual reality version on the PlayStation VR. If this update really is releasing soon, then Xbox players will be able to get a treat as well.
We’ll keep an eye out for the official notice when the upgrades go live, so be sure to check back for updates.
