If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to invest in your first VR headset, now might be the time. Starting October 2nd, HTC Vive is offering Fallout 4 VR for free with every purchase of a new HTC Vive VR bundle.

The HTC Vive kit, which now costs $599 following a recent price drop, includes a headset, two wireless controllers, two base stations, a link box, earbuds, and some Vive accessories. Purchasing this bundle will get you a pre-order code for Fallout 4 VR.

If you already own an HTC Vive headset, you’ll can still benefit from this promotion, as anyone who purchases a copy of Fallout 4 VR will get a free three-month subscription to Viveport, which offers five games per month to download from a library of over 250 VR games.

Fallout 4 VR will include the entire base game of the original Fallout 4, but it won’t include any add-ons like AutomatronFar Harbor, or Nuka-World. Still, players will have full access to the Commonwealth’s huge mainland map, with all of the features and quests from the original non-VR version. Plus, Liberty Prime will probably look insane in VR, so that’s enough reason for us to give Fallout 4 VR a chance.

Fallout 4 VR is launching on December 12th for the HTC Vive, with a PlayStation VR release rumored but not confirmed by Bethesda.

Michael Goroff has been gaming for almost three decades. He's a lover of all games and systems, but he mostly plays Xbox. That being said, if he's a fanboy, he's a fanboy for the game industry as a whole. Spit white-hot fanboy hate at him, trash talk his Gold II rank on Rocket League, or maybe just send him a cordial hello on Twitter @gogogoroff.

Fallout 4 VR just got even better for virtual reality newcomers

Here's one really tempting reason to purchase an HTC Vive headset.
