Fans of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind will be able to explore its memorable world again, thanks to a team of skilled modders. Due to the power of Bethesda’s Creation Engine, it’s being remade in Skyrim.
That modder—who goes by the moniker “Eloth”—has some early images of the project posted in the Morroblivion forums, giving people close looks at the textures and artwork.
It’s all part of one massive effort called “The Skywind Project,” which describes the merger of Morrowind’s world into the technology behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim‘s graphics and physics.
Eventually, the team will wrap things up and look towards rebuilding Oblivion with the same tools.
Fan-made mods like this are a huge part of extending the already-impressive shelf life of a game like Skyrim, which is why Bethesda makes their creation engine’s tools available to fans.
Eloth formerly worked on the “Morroblivion Project,” which rebuilt Morrowind into Oblivion‘s engine. Skywind’s team is still accepting offers to help, though, so if you’ve got free time, hit up the Skywind development forum.
