THE BUZZ: Getting tired of waiting on Square Enix to produce a remake of Final Fantasy VII? Seems this group of fans were—so they started working on one themselves.

Using the Unreal engine, Studio Paint has started putting together “Final Fantasy VII Remake”. One interesting part of the video they’ve released shows the game being playable in first person—which feels more than a little unusual for Final Fantasy.

EGM’s TAKE: I usually find fan projects like this interesting, but if I could give a word of advice—don’t show anything off until you’ve got the project pretty much finish. When you reveal the game this early, that only gives the original developer/publisher more time to send their lawyers after you!
