Fans Already Panicking About Leaked Prince Of Persia Screenshot

Posted on August 6, 2012 AT 01:50pm

It seems a leaked screenshot of what (allegedly) seems to be a future Prince of Persia title has fans wringing their hands about the direction of the series. From the picture above, the setting of the game appears to be somewhere in Egypt, while the file name’s text at the bottom suggests that Prince of Persia Zero 2 is the working title of the build.

Leaked on the Ubisoft forums yesterday, the imagery has other Ubisoft fans worried about a variety of potential issues:

“Who is the guy in the center of the picture? I hope it isn’t the prince.”

“Any idea if there’s anything supernatural in this game? It doesn’t look like the kind of game where you’d have…well, interesting enemies like demons or mythical creatures, but it’s just the one shot.”

“I have a serious question… Is that man able to perform a wall run?”

“I’m not going to make assumptions about the game itself based on one screenshot, but if this is real (and it probably is) then it means they pretty much dumped PoP 2008. If that’s the case then I’m simply not interested in this game game at all. 2008 was a great reboot, in my opinion it had much more potential than their original trilogy. If Ubisoft can so easily throw that series away and go for a “realistic” PoP then I see no reason to support them.”

“They should call it God of War Zero and sell all the stuff they made to Sony. XD”

“I seriously hope this is a joke. The graphics looks dated. Even AC Revelations graphics are much better. This can’t be DX11.”

If the screenshot is really an early image of the next Prince of Persia game, this does seem to confirm that the next main character of the series will greatly deviate from the lithe, athletic, slim build seen from the Prince in the 2008 reboot.

Moreover, Ubisoft forum commenters are also debating why the central figure in the screenshot is so dark-skinned, despite the fact that people of Black African descent aren’t uncommon in the Persian Gulf, Egypt, Arabia, India, or most areas in the surrounding region. Still, it’s a vastly different look from earlier images of a Prince of Persia reboot, known then as Prince of Persia Zero.
