Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Teaser is Chock Full of 80s Nostalgia

Ubisoft released a teaser trailer for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon that ought to be taken with the usual grain of April Fools’ Day salt.

While nearly every inch of the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon teaser screams “prank,” as does the completely absurd website they launched today, the briefest glimpse of gameplay toward the end of the trailer reveals what looks to be an arcade shooter. Our theory at EGM is that the title is a joke that’s real.

So, assuming then that this thing is really happening, here’s the gist, copied verbatim from the ludicrous Ubisoft website: “The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.”

Blood Dragon was listed for release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in January by the Brazilian classification board. So yeah, I guess this ain’t no joke.

Let’s do this—blood dragon style.
