THE BUZZ: The upcoming CyberConnect 2 saga of rage-fueled fighting Asura’s Wrath will have a variety of retailer-specific pre-order bonuses, the game’s publisher Capcom revealed today.
Here are the packs (and what they contain) by retailer:
Amazon: Pre-order for the Devastator Pack, which gives you the in-game modifiers Guardian Mode (reduced damage), and Iconoclast Mode (fill your unlimited gauge faster).
Best Buy: Pre-order for the Infinity Pack, which gives you the in-game modifiers Extinguisher Mode (faster cooling after overheating from heavy attacks), and Zealot Mode (increased time for your unlimited rage mode).
GameStop: Pre-order for an exclusive combination art/comic book, written and illustrated by the folks at Penny Arcade. The comic “takes a hilarious ‘what if’ look at Asura and how he would deal with everyday situations,” while on the flipside, you’ll find a collection of concept art for the game.
EGM’s TAKE: Look, I love videogames, and the companies that bring them to me… but all of this pre-order stuff is just getting too ridiculous for my tastes. If you want to include a bonus art book, CD, or t-shirt for those who pre-order the game at any retailer, great! Now that we’re at the point where you not only have to pre-order for in-game content, but have to do so at multiple stores in order to get all of that content, it’s just frustrating to no end.
