Players can choose to fight as the female Animal Crossing Villager as well as the male in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games, creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed today on Miiverse.

“Pic of the day,” Sakurai posted alongside the image above. “You can choose to play as the girl villager too! How lovely.”

The Villager’s gender options are similar to the male and female Wii Fit Trainers, in that they aren’t individual characters with their own unique move sets, but rather alternate options for the base character.

Animal Crossing’s Villager is one of several new characters making their debut in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for 3DS. The male Villager was revealed as a playable character during the E3 2013 Nintendo Direct alongside Mega Man and, later, the Wii Fit Trainer.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is expected to arrive sometime this summer, with the Wii U version to follow in the fall or winter.
