EA has announced that it will be adding new World Cup modes to FIFA 18 later this month as part of a free update.
Following the update, which is scheduled to arrive on May 29th, players will be able to play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia tournament as any of the 32 qualified nations. As well as this, a Custom World Cup Tournament will be available, allowing players to create a custom tournament using any 32 nations from all available in FIFA 18.
“Feel the excitement on and off the pitch through official FIFA World Cup elements, from immersive atmospheres that include all 12 stadiums from Russia to authentic pitch environments, national team banners, and high-resolution crowds,” EA adds. “The official graphic and broadcast package provides a genuine football experience thanks to the Frostbite game engine, which delivers cinematic scenes that continue the FIFA World Cup experience long after the final whistle.”
The update will also introduce the FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team. Players will be able to create their dream international squad using stars from all 32 qualified nations plus legendary FIFA World Cup ICONS from previous tournaments. The World Cup version of Ultimate Team features single-layer and online tournaments, single-player and online drafts, and various squad building challenges.
As an added bonus, for every Standard or Premium pack purchased in FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team, a pack of equivalent value will be thrown in for the base Ultimate Team mode.
FIFA 18‘s World Cup update will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch from May 29th.
