A new update has been released for FIFA 19 on PC, with an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release to follow “in the near future.”
“Since we last addressed gameplay before the holidays, we’ve been looking at player feedback closely to determine changes that would bring more impact to areas we hear about often,” EA Sports wrote. “There were concerns over Goalkeeper movement and Timed Finesse accuracy, specifically from outside of the box, and we’re hoping changes covered within today’s update bring a welcomed improvement in these areas.”
The update addresses an issue that caused timed shots to always have less errors than non-timed shots, even when the timed shot was red or yellow. To fix this issue, the accuracy and ball speed of yellow and red timed shots has been reduced.
In addition to this, the maximum size of the timed finish window for a green timed shot has been reduced to address how easy it was to score timed finishes “from a long pass, a cross or when queuing up a shot after a knock on during a run.”
The final change to shooting has been made to powered finesse shots to reduce their effectiveness. Following the update, these types of shots are now more likely to be impacted by error, resulting in less accuracy, spin, and power.
Finally, the update adjusts goalkeeper movement when being manually controlled by a player to reduce the effectiveness of this tactic in open play. Take a look at the full patch notes here.
FIFA 19 is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
