Square Enix may be contemplating changing the official title of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, according to a recent retail listing.

Amazon Japan recently marked the game’s title as “tentative,” suggesting a change in title may be coming. This basically means that Square Enix is yet to officially nail down the title, it may not change at all. The only reason I can think for this is the development length. The game was supposed to be part of the XIII series, but with Lightning Returns set to complete this series next year the team may consider making it a standalone title.

Either that or the rumors that Versus XIII is being reworked into Final Fantasy XV have some truth to them, but I doubt this is the case. The most obvious new title would simply be Final Fantasy: Versus, removing the XIII connection completely. Of course with nothing official, bar a change to the retail listing, this may all just be conjecture.
