Long-rumored, Square Enix finally revealed during the Sony presser that Final Fantasy Versus XIII has officially been rebranded as Final Fantasy XV.

First announced in 2006 alongside Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII as part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology, the status of Versus XIII has been in question for years now. Helmed by director Tetsuya Nomura, who previously directed the Kingdom Hearts series and took lead on the artwork for the Final Fantasy series since VII, the fifteenth Final Fantasy takes place in a world that mirrors the modern day and features semi-futuristic technology, cars, and an action-RPG battle system reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts.

Sony also revealed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII—now XV—would be coming to the PS4.
