A port of Square Enix’s SNES classic JRPG Final Fantasy VI is in development for Android and iOS devices, Polygon reports.

The mobile version of Final Fantasy VI will be in the same vein as Final Fantasy V, which launched on iOS devices in March and Android devices last month.

Originally released on the Super Nintendo as Final Fantasy III in October 1994, Final Fantasy VI has seen ports and releases on Sony’s PlayStation in 1999 as part of the Final Fantasy Anthology, on Game Boy Advance in 2007 as Final Fantasy VI Advance, on the Wii Virtual console in North America June 2011, and on the PlayStation Network as a PSOne classic December 6, 2011.

The game’s main protagonist, Terra Brandford, is a playable character in Dissidia: Final Fantasy and its sequels. She also makes a cameo in Secret of Evermore and represents Final Fantasy VI in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy VI is regarded by many as one of the greatest video games of all times and the best of the Final Fantasy series (but not this guy?close, but Final Fantasy VII tops it, y’all).
