Fans have expressed concerns over the new character booster item that is being added to Final Fantasy VII‘s PC digital re-release, claiming that Square Enix may charge users extra to access the item, creating a microtransaction.
A Square Enix representative has told Kotaku that this is not the case, “The Character Booster will not cost real money to use. We’ll have final pricing info on the game to share soon, but we can confirm that there will be no microtransactions for the upcoming rerelease of Final Fantasy VII on PC.”
While it seemed ridiculous to me, it’s good that Square has took the time to calm the fears of those fans who thought that it would go down that route.
