Final Fantasy X HD is a Remaster Not a Remake

THE BUZZ: Previously revealed as a remake by Square-Enix, Final Fantasy X HD will in fact be a remaster the game’s producer has revealed.
The game, being developed for PlayStation 3 and Vita, will be a HD remaster similar to Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, not a fully-fledged remake as originally suggested by the publisher.
“The game is being developed like a high-definition remaster, but the visuals will look much better compared to the original,” said Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto.
EGM’s TAKE: Fans were brimming with excitement when they heard the news of a Final Fantasy X HD remake, with ideas of the ultimate Final Fantasy in their heads. Sadly this will be nothing more than an improved graphics HD remaster. Which isn’t a bad thing, it’s still a chance to play Final Fantasy X again, the best in the series on PlayStation 2. I spent many hours playing the game when I first brought my console and pretty much completed every side quest there was, I also loved the game’s story as Auron is one of my favorite video game characters, so I will happily pay full price to enjoy the game a second time round. We all still eagerly await the day that Final Fantasy VII gets a HD remaster let alone a remake.
