Final Fantasy XIII-2′s time travel system detailed

THE BUZZ: A new gameplay mechanic has been revealed by Dengeki PlayStation for Final Fantasy XIII-2 which involves time travel.

Last weeks Shounen Jump revealed that new character Noel is actually from the future and now Dengeki PlayStation has revealed that players will be able to freely travel backwards and forwards in time.

The mechanic is known as the “Historiacross” and each game area will have a “gate” and once activated a Historiacross will appear that will allow you to select the next location or time period that you wish to visit next. There are multiple gates in some areas and different gates will be available depending on which one you enter through.

EGM’s TAKE: The addition of a time travel feature could really give Final Fantasy XIII-2 a distinct edge over the original if Square-Enix do it right, if not it could be a serious black spot on the game.
