Square Enix put out a new video of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn showcasing an instanced dungeon in anticipation of the game’s Q2 2013 release.

The footage, it should be noted, is captured from the alpha build.

They also released a PDF document detailing the four phases of the beta, which starts mid-February and leads into the game’s launch several weeks later.

If nothing else, I give Square Enix points for persistence. I’m not really an MMO fan—I’ve sampled quite a few, but none of them ever stuck. But some part of me, some lingering aspect of the Final Fantasy fan I once was—before the spectacular decline of a series that contributed to my decision to be a writer—remains interested in a solid Final Fantasy MMO experience.

Anyone play Final Fantasy XIV? Care to give us the inside scoop on where the game went wrong?
