Square Enix has finally offered up an official release date for Final Fantasy XIV‘s first major patch.

Patch 2.1, A Realm Awoken, will hit servers on December 17 in Japan, according to the publisher. The patch will include extreme mode Primals, a fight with Good King Moggle Mog, a new dungeon, two new hard mode dungeons, PvP, and The Crystal Tower, a new 24-man instance.
