Square Enix has announced that registrations for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn‘s closed beta have surpassed the one million mark. Not too shabby for a game that was originally deemed a failure.

To celebrate the achievement an illustration by lead character designer Akihiko Yoshida has been released. The publisher also announced that custom Final Fantasy XIV themes will be released for PlayStation 3 and PC as a thank you to players for their support.

You can still join the beta by registering over on the game’s official website.
