Square Enix is set to deploy patch 2.3 Defenders of Eorzea for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn today, adding new story mission, side quests, a primal, and more.

“Every few months, something magical happens here at Square Enix,” Hergen ‘Kahuna’ Thaens, Community Project Manager at Square Enix Europe wrote. “While we’re watching all of you adventurers, fighting your way through Eorzea, we think to ourselves “We should give them more. We can give them more. It’s been three months already!” – and then, in a secret and mysterious ceremony, High Priest of the Code Yoshida-san gets the dev team together, places a development PC in a magic circle, together with some Final Fantasy artifacts, energy drinks and fast food, and, using ancient magic, summons forth a mighty content update!”

Patch 2.3 adds new main scenario missions, new side quests, a 72-player PvP mode called Frontlines, the second part of the Crystal Tower, a new Primal in the form of Ramuh, new hard mode versions of Tam-Tara Deepcroft and the Stone Vigil, a new dungeon called Hullbreaker Isle, Hunts, Chocobo Raising, and Private Chambers in Free Company houses.
