Square-Enix has announced the trailer for the highly anticipated version 2.0 of Final Fantasy XIV will not be shown at E3 next week.
Square-Enix’s Naoki Yoshida wrote of the trailer’s completion in a recent producer’s letter, but also shared that the company has decided to withhold it from E3 in order to package it in a larger marketing campaign. “During our most recent global PR planning meeting, we came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle,” he said.
Version 2.0 will still get its public debut at E3, however the trailer and other media have been held back until August. This updated version of the game is scheduled to release alongside the PlayStation 3 version. The entire team is basically pinning all its hopes on this new update, if it fails then the game is doomed. By the looks of what has been shown so far the they have nothing to worry about.
