THE BUZZ: Square-Enix has announced the welcome back initiatives for Final Fantasy XIV.
Anyone with an inactive account can return to the game between May 10 and May 21 completely free of charge. Players will be able to check out the new job system, the Seventh Umbral Era content and the new gameplay features added in update 1.22.
Players who are still subscribed will also be getting a bonus. Those who have had an active subscription of at least 90 days between January 6 and version 2.0 beta testing beginning can take advantage of a lower subscription price, set at $9.99 a month.
These subscribers will also receive a Chocobo mount when 2.0 launches, and will have their names placed in the game’s credits.
EGM’s TAKE: That’s a lot of incentives for players to continue playing the game. Those that have stuck with it throughout all of the issues deserve all the bonuses they can get, it’s been a rough ride. However, it appears that the game may finally be taking shape, whether it will ever fully recover is yet to be seen.
Will you be returning to the game or do you still play it? Let us know in the comments below.
