Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XIV‘s final story update will go live on March 28th, bringing an end to the Heavenward main story in preparation for the release of the Stormblood expansion.
“The Griffin has played his final hand. By harnessing the wrath and despair of his dying countrymen did he give form to a new divinity; by the power of Nidhogg’s eyes and his own mortal demise did he give it life,” the description reads. “Only through the swift and desperate action of an Archon was the primal sealed away, but even now this incarnation of vengeance strains to escape its prison of light…”
This will be the final major update for Final Fantasy XIV before the launch of the expansion. Square Enix plans to release a few minor updates in between, but they will mainly be bug fixes.
Stormblood launches in June and will introduce new Jobs, dungeons, raids, zones, enemies, and more. Players can also look forward to new swimming and diving mechanics that will allow them to explore brand new areas around Eorzea.
