Square Enix revealed during its most recent Active Time Report livestream that the next major update for Final Fantasy XV will introduce the ability to swap characters.

The first anniversary update, which will arrive in December before Episode Ignis, will allow players to swap between Noctis, Prompto, Ignis, and Gladious during battles. Each character will control as they do in their respective DLC releases.

Final Fantasy brand manager Shinji Hashimoto recently teased that 2018 will be a big year for the series. This adds to comments made by Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda claiming that several big announcements will be made in spring 2018.

Final Fantasy XV is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC release set for early 2018.
