Four of EverQuest Next’s projected 40-plus classes have been revealed and described in the latest issue of PC Gamer, EQNexus reports.

According to EQNexus, Clerics are dual-wielders who carry either a two-handed hammer or hammer and shield. They are principally responsible for buffing and protecting allies. Necromancers, meanwhile, use a tome or dagger along with a “focus object” to summon destructive magical energies. Necromancers also have a companion EQNexus calls a “Monstrosity.”

By EQNexus’ description, Beast Lords seem to have pets, and use either a flail and shield or a medium-ranged spear. Tempests are agile fighters who rely on wind attacks and lightning strikes and use two one-handed swords or one two-handed blade.

The four classes revealed are only a few of the 40-plus classes players will be able to mix and match abilities and weapon skills between. When SOE first announced EverQuest Next, they revealed that the MMORPG would abandon a traditional leveling structure.

EverQuest Next is scheduled to launch on Windows PC sometime next year, and may possibly find its way to PS4 as well.
