THE BUZZ: Arenanet has announced the first public closed beta weekend for its highly anticipated MMO, Guild Wars 2.

The first weekend will take place from April 27 to April 29. Arenanet promised to offer more details about the weekend closer to the date.

You can currently pre-purchase the game, doing so will guarantee you access to this weekend and all after it.

EGM’s TAKE: It seems like a life time ago that Guild Wars 2 was first announced, but now it’s finally reached the public beta stage. Now comes the difficult part for Arenanet, how will the public react to the game? Betas are always a dangerous time  for developers, once bad bug and player’s opinion of the game could be changed forever. On the other hand, get it right and sales are all but guaranteed. Guild Wars 2 does away with traditional questing instead choosing to use dynamic events that begin upon entering an area and allow everybody to join in, giving a more populated feel to the world.
