Magrunner: Dark Pulse, a first-person action-puzzle game from Frogwares, will launch on PlayStation 3 October 22, the developer announced today.
Magrunner is set in what is described as “a cyberpunk reimagining of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos.” In the year 2048, a handful of people are selected to test the Gruckezber Corporation’s new magtech glove. The glove allows users to magnetically charge objects, attracting or repelling them. Players assume the role of Dax Ward, who has been tasked to make his way through Gruckezber’s deep space training facility by solving an series of puzzles. Things, of course, go horribly awry, and players eventually arrive on the doorstep of The Gate and Cthulhu.
Developer Frogwares’ previous work includes a line of Sherlock Holmes–themed adventure games, including 2012’s The Testament of Sherlock Holmes and 2009’s Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper.
Magrunner: Dark Pulse marks the company’s console debut. The downloadable title will be available on PSN for PS3 October 22, priced at $9.99.
