First-person sci-fi survival horror game Master Reboot coming to PS3 in February

Posted on January 31, 2014 AT 10:33am

Master Reboot, a first-person sci-fi horror game from Wales Interactive, is coming to PlayStation 3 next month, studio co-founder and managing director David Banner announced today.

According to Banner, Master Reboot’s story revolves around something called the Soul Cloud, “a giant server that holds the data of your soul and memories when you die.” Master Reboot begins with players awakening in the Soul Cloud, but on an unfamiliar beach and with no knowledge of who they are.

Wales Interactive’s approach, Banner outlines in a post on the PlayStation Blog, is a “less is more” one that shies away from blood and gore horror tropes in favor of creating an atmosphere that produces a sense of unease for players.

“We deliberately tried to make something visually striking and that, combined with the music, gives a beautiful, haunting quality to the game,” Banner wrote. “We wanted to create a look that would really stand out from the crowd and give us as the developers an identity and think we have achieved that with this game.”

Master Reboot will arrive on PlayStation 3 sometime in February.
