THE BUZZ: The folks at Gaijin Games are hard at work on Runner2, an HD sequel to their fan-favorite indie plat former Bit.Trip Runner. Today, a first “preliminary” screenshot of the game was released.

Along with that, we see some of the work that has been done to bring trademark Bit.Trip protagonist CommanderVideo isn’t the brave new world of high definition.

EGM’s TAKE: Runner2 is a huge departure from the style that defined the Bit.Trip series, but what won’t be changing (no doubt) will be the commitment to finely-produced gameplay. It’ll be interesting to see how Runner2 turns out—and how PS3 and Xbox 360 owners embrace this style of platformer.
