First Sunset Overdrive gameplay footage features four minutes of acrobatic antics

Posted on May 8, 2014 AT 11:30am

Insomniac Games today unveiled the first gameplay footage of their upcoming open-world third-person shooter Sunset Overdrive, complete with narration that provides an overview of some of the mechanics.

According to the narrator, Sunset Overdrive in many ways represents what Insomniac, as a developer, has been trying to achieve in its 20-year run, taking lessons learned from Ratchet & Clank and more recently Fuse and combining them to turn third-person shooters on their ear and create a game driven by momentum instead of cover-based rhythm.

Sunset Overdrive was first announced during Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference last year, accompanied by a CG trailer that provided a taste of the game’s irreverent style. It is expected to launch later this year exclusively for Xbox One.
